In our never-ending quest to bring cutting-edge technologies/methodologies and relevant topics to our professional community, the PA/DE/NJ Distance Learning Association is pleased to invite you to join us in an entrepreneurial journey guided by an esteemed panel of regional experts made up of a Technology and Intellectual Property counsel (Fred Wilf: Wilftek) a prominent Venture Capitalist (Chad Stender: Seventy Six Capital), and a successful Learning Tech start-up company (Donna DeMarco: Viddler). Thru real-world examples, based on their extensive experience, the panel will address the challenges and essential steps necessary to bring a Learning Tech vision to the marketplace.
The panel discussion will be followed by a presentation by Jill Sitnick, representing one of the world's most successful and well-known start-ups, Microsoft, and will focus on their Learning Tech tool, One Note.
The topic for this event is most appropriate due to the location of the meeting in the new Microsoft Reactor Center located in the University City Science Center. Both of these organizations are committed to the success of Technology Start-ups.
Panel Participant Bios:
Fred Wilf is an attorney who practices technology and intellectual property law. He represents clients of all sizes, from one-person startups to Fortune 500 companies. He has particular experience in information technology, including technology in the education, finance and healthcare industries, as well as publishing, broadcast and broadband. Chad Stender is the Director of Operations for SeventySix Capital. Chad is known as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and tireless networker. SeventySix Capital was founded in 1999 and invests in startup and early-‐stage consumer facing technology companies. Some of the successful investments include: SeamlessWeb (acquired by ARAMARK), Take Care Health Systems (acquired by Walgreens), NutriSystem (NTRI, top performing stock in the U.S. for 5 consecutive years) and Omek Interactive (acquired by Intel). Prior to SeventySix Capital, Chad worked for the Philadelphia Flyers and Comcast-‐Spectacor and interned for the Philadelphia 76ers and The Walt Disney Corporation. Chad currently sits on the board of Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, Challah for Hunger, Tribe 12 and is an advisor to New Leaders Council Fellows. Chad received his Bachelors degree from James Madison University and received his Masters degree from East Stroudsburg University.
Donna DeMarco is the Cofounder at Viddler, Inc. Over the past 20 years, she has brought software engineering expertise and project management to work experience at Viddler and beyond. Donna's approach in understanding clients' requirements and exceeding their expectations has helped build Viddler to service of 2,000+ clients like McGrawHill, Ascension Health, Nokia, and Disney. Viddler’s video hosting platform has been providing secure, interactive video to thousands of clients in over 150 countries for over a decade. Now, Viddler is showing business leaders how interactive video training can positively impact the way teams approach their sales strategy. Microsoft Presenter Bio:
Jill Sitnick joined Microsoft's U.S. Education Team after 20 years in a K-12 where she was a high school English teacher, an Instructional Technologist and then the Supervisor of Instructional Technology. Jill specializes in demonstrating, training and supporting Pennsylvania educational institutions with their technology initiatives. Her current role allows her to show all of Microsoft's educational offerings with a focus on Office 365 which includes OneNote Classroom which provides for asynchronous instruction.
